"So You Think You Can Date?" is the 3rd episode of the third season of The Suite Life on Deck.

Story[]

The Seven Seas High dance is coming up. Having broken up, Cody and Bailey lie to each other about having dates to the dance, so they quickly try to find a backup date to keep their lie going. Now the pressure is on to see who has the best game. Meanwhile, Woody is tired of Tutweiller and Moseby arguing about who should get the skydeck for the school dance, so he makes them share the skydeck. It‘s revealed though flashback that Mr. Moseby and Miss Tutweiler's interest in the Middle Ages and 1980’s, respectively, comes from the tribulations they endured as outcasts in their teenage years. Through understanding, Mr. Moseby convinces Emma that they both have become successful adults and have overcome their painful pasts.

Quotes[]

  • Miss Tutweiler: Point taken. But under no circumstances will I disappoint my students. They are already bursting with excitement.
    • Woody: (Is asleep and snoring loudly. Miss Tutweiler bangs a gavel on his desk and he wakes up) Sold!
  • Zack: Your bigger problem is that you're too nice. You have to act like me. Girls love the whole bad boy thing I've got going on.
    • Cody: Well, maybe that works for you, but I chose to believe girls respond to charm and sensitivity and well, someone who's not afraid to cry. (smiles)
    • Zack: You really are the sister I never wanted.
  • Cody: (knocks on door) Hello?
    • Zack: No, knock on the door like you're not afraid to break a nail.
    • Cody: (knocks loudly) Yo, Cissy!
    • Cissy: (opens door) Cody?
    • Cody: You, me, the dance tomorrow night. Wear something pretty.
    • Zack: Don't give her a choice. Say you'll see her at 7:00 then wink.
    • Cody: See you at 7:00 then wink.
    • Zack: Don't say wink! You wink with your eye. Wink!
    • Cissy: (Cody winks multiple times) Is there something in your eye?
    • Zack: Just a eyeful of your lusciousness.
    • Cody: Just a eyeful of your lusciousness.
  • Young Moseby: (snickers) Who cares if none of those stuck up girls would go to the dance with us? (kids laugh) (snorts) This is way cooler. (sobs) Who am I kidding? I’m going to spend the rest of my life stuck in the basement with you losers!
  • Young Tutweiler: (lisping) Wait, what do you mean you’re not taking me to the dance? But— But you promised. And I told everybody I had a date! You’re the worst cousin ever! I’m not sitting next to you at Thanksgiving! No, I do not eat all the stuffing! (Slams phone and sobs)

Trivia[]

  • The title of this episode, "So You Think You Can Date?", is an allusion to the hit show, So You Think You Can Dance?.
  • During the dance, Ciccy was dressed as Cyndi Lauper and Mr. Moseby was dressed as Michael Jackson.
  • When Mr. Moseby insults Miss. Tutwieller’s 1980’s theme he says “That’ll scare away less people than your Spinsters Just Wanna Have Fun look.” It‘s a reference to Cyndi Lauper’s 1983 song Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

Goofs[]

  • Cody tells Zack that Julius Caesar was a Roman emperor, but Caesar was in fact a general and Dictator of Rome. After his death and the defeat of his murderers, his adopted son nephew Augustus became the first Roman emperor. Bailey also later makes this mistake when talking to London.
  • Bailey says that the 80's reached Kettlecorn last year but she had been on the boat for 2 years and dating Cody for a year

Soundtrack[]

  • The final song of the dance is uncredited production music called "Faded Memories" from the album "Soul Lovers" by Stéphane Michel Huguenin, Yves Sanna, and Christian Padovan, courtesy of Associated Production Music (KOS-0192).
