"The Suite Life Sets Sail" is the pilot episode of The Suite Life on Deck, the spin-off series following The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Zack and Cody Martin leave Boston to spend the remainder of their high school years at sea in Seven Seas High on the S.S. Tipton. They are joined by London Tipton, also of Boston fame, as well as Mr. Moseby who has taken a job as the ship's manager. Bailey Pickett and Woody Fink, two other students on the ship, join the cast as well.

Story

Mr. Tipton decides that London will attend Seven Seas High because it's difficult for her to run away on a boat. Meanwhile, Moseby, the ship manager since three months ago, meets again with Zack and Cody and they explain that they will be attending Seven Seas High, Mr. Moseby screams, jumping off of the boat.

Bailey Pickett, A farm girl from Kettlecorn, Kansas wants to attend the high school, but every girl's cabin is filled. So, she disguises herself as a boy to be accepted. As Carey is saying goodbye to Zack and Cody, Cody hugs her and says that he prepared stew for the whole 6 months for her. Zack says he isn't a baby and shakes her hand, but winds up hugging her legs and crying for her not to go.

London is upset that she can't escape from the boat, but is even more upset to learn that she has a roommate, Padma. London bribes Padma to drop out with jewelry. Zack is roommates with Bailey and Cody is roommates with Woody.

In their first class, Miss Tutweiller takes the class to the marine biology lab. Zack, Cody, Woody, and Bailey stay behind to admire the octopus. Zack and Woody attempt to feed the octopus, and Cody and Bailey talk about how intelligent octopuses are, and how they can be taught to open jars. Cody and Zack make a deal about trading roommates. Woody picks up the octopus, which frightens it and causes it to squirt ink at Zack, Woody, Cody, and Bailey. It is thrown out the window, and Cody reaches down out the porthole, getting it from where it is stuck to the ship.

Later, Zack discovers that Bailey is a girl when he walks in and sees her hat off and long hair. He even begins to have a crush on her. In the gameroom, Cody becomes suspicious when he sees Zack flirting with Bailey. Zack, Cody, Bailey, and London all go to play a videogame with headphones, and an alarm drill for a sinking ship goes off. The students don't know that it is a drill, and run for the life jackets. They fight to get out the door after finding the life jackets and end up falling over the balcony and into the hottub. Bailey's hat falls off, and the ship sees that Bailey is actually a girl.

Bailey apologizes for disguising herself as a guy, but Moseby and Ms. Tutweiller say that she needs to be in a girl's cabin in order for her to continue attending the school as every girl student in the program has a roommate. London, while gloating, admits that she doesn't have a roommate. Upon hearing this, Mr. Moseby decides to have Bailey room with London. London tries to bribe Bailey into dropping out, but her idea doesn't work this time. London refuses to share a room, but Mr. Moseby states that she must in order to stay in the school. She states she doesn't want to as she made it clear she doesn't like the school. She calls all of this a pain in the butt before leaving. It then shows that the octopus is attached onto London's butt.

Later, Miss Tutweiller finds a letter from London, and shows it to Mr. Moseby. It reveals that London is running away to a place nobody will ever find her as she believes nobody understands or cares about her. She also writes a P.S. on the note saying to send her luggage onto Mr. Tipton's villa on Parrot Island even though she claims she isn't going there. Mr. Moseby assures Miss Tutweiller that there is no way off the boat, but they soon find out London bribed her helicopter pilot into getting her off the boat via the Tipton Helicopter.

Quotes

Moseby: You know, the older I get the more I realize that you have to look adversity in the face and say 'You don't scare me.'
Zack and Cody: Hey Mr. Moseby!

(Moseby screams)

Carey: Moseby, you're shaking like a chihuahua.
Moseby: Oh, it's the sea breeze.
Carey: You probably shouldn't have left your pants in the drier for so long.
Moseby: Oh, hello Carey. Boys.
Cody: Did you miss us, Mr. Moseby?
Moseby: Oh why, yes yes. Why, without you the last three months on this floating paradise have been sheer torture.
Zack: Well, your sufferings over.
Moseby: Huh?
Cody: We're going to be attending Seven Seas High.
Moseby: Huh?
London: They said they're going to be attending Seven (holds up 7 fingers) Seas (makes a letter "C" with her hands) High (waves her hand)! (Turns toward Cody) He's gettin' old.
Carey: Believe me it was not an easy decision, but it's such an opportunity and I can afford it with my employee discount, so how could I say no.
Moseby: Like this. No! (jumps over the side of the ship)
Carey: Well he took that better than I thought.

(The twins shake their head and London has a puzzled look on her face.)

Cody: Dude. You're a girl!

Bailey: I am! That explains so much.

Miss Tutweiller: Bailey, I'd let you stay, but unfortunately we don't have a cabin to put you in.

Zack: She can stay in my room. I'm willing to take one for the team.
Miss Tutweiller: I meant, a girl's cabin. Every girl has a roommate.
London: Except for me!
Bailey: London! Thank you. Thank you.
Moseby: London, it's so nice of you to share your room with Bailey.
London: I wasn't offering. I was gloating.

London: Stupid sea school! It's just a big pain in the butt! (walks away with the octopus stuck her butt)

Miss Tutweiller: Yes, but as you can see there's a line there.

London: As you can see, I don't care.

Cody: It's on the side of the boat! (reaching for the octopus) Ahh!!! seagull attack! (waving arms to keep the seagulls away)

Bailey: Don't hurt the octopus.

Cody: Oh that's okay, I'll just let them PECK MY EYES OUT!!!

(Bailey laughs)

Cody: This is a nightmare!

Zack: Not too pretty from this end, either.
