Yeah, I made it a stub. {{SUBST:User:Gary the Gaget Dude/Signature}} 00:12, January 29, 2011 (UTC)

Ownership of the Wiki

This is just a notification to let you know that I have applied for ownership of this Wiki. As a community member, I'd like to hear your concerns or questions, if any, on this page. If you have no issues, you may choose either to not reply, or to post any words of wisdom you may have.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you the best.

Soxxeh [TALK] 06:57, January 29, 2011 (UTC)

The message is six months old and isn't really vulgar in any way. It won't hurt to leave it up there. Thanks, though! Soxxeh [TALK] 18:31, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

Re:Admin Features

That's it, as far as I know. Was there something you had in mind? Soxxeh [TALK] 19:07, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

No, that's for everyone. Just change it in Special:Preferences. Soxxeh [TALK] 19:11, February 2, 2011 (UTC)
I'm sorry if you misunderstood me, and I apologize for the miscommunication. I don't feel it's proper for me to just hand out admin rights (particularly since I don't fully know everyone on this Wiki yet)—that sort of action results in the poor performance that has previously riddled this Wiki. Once I've sorted through all the stuff on this Wiki (particularly policy-wise), I'll be posting for individuals to apply for a "rollback" position. Once that post is made you're welcome to apply with all the other applicants, and I will choose the most qualified individual(s) for the position.
Thanks for your enthusiasm! Soxxeh [TALK] 02:50, February 3, 2011 (UTC)
Hey, haven't seen you around for a few days. Your last edit was on February 9th. Just wondering what's going on. Soxxeh [TALK] 21:01, February 13, 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure I can. I think I need sysop privileges to do that. I'll ask around about it, though. Thanks! Soxxeh [TALK] 22:49, February 8, 2011 (UTC)

Snakes on a Boat

Done. (This.) Soxxeh [TALK] 19:17, February 11, 2011 (UTC)

Time Away

Good to know. Since you're wanting a position here, you should probably notify me before you leave for a period longer than 48hrs, so I don't think you're inactive. ;) Soxxeh [TALK] 04:22, February 16, 2011 (UTC)

I decided instead of a vote (since we have like, 4 active users), to instead ask you some questions about moderating and see how well you do in order to determine whether or not you will get access. Currently working on those, so expect something prior to this weekend.
As for the rights, you will receive only rollback rights. You will have authorization to warn users, but not block them. Soxxeh [TALK] 20:42, February 16, 2011 (UTC)

Unfortunately we can't make bots for ourselves. The adoption request I submitted did not give me access to the actual server, so I can't implement them as far as I know. Soxxeh [TALK] 19:29, February 16, 2011 (UTC)

Sister Dominick

Stop moving that page, as it is spelled "Dominick" in the credits. Soxxeh [TALK] 05:09, February 17, 2011 (UTC)

Re: ... stuff

Not sure about the test yet. Probably 5-10?

Also keep an eye on Soxar. He may be that troll I banned a while back just ripping off my name. Soxxeh [TALK] 20:25, February 17, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I can talk to her. Also, test should be tonight with any luck. Sorry, I've just been very busy. Soxxeh [TALK] 00:29, February 20, 2011 (UTC)

Here's the test (10 questions) to see if you're eligible for rollback permissions. Each question is valued differently and you must score 60% to pass.

  1. (2 points) Do you know what the "rollback" tool is? If so, how is it used?
  2. (1 point) When uploading an image, how do you license it?
  3. (3 points) Do you know what the "recent changes" page is? If so, do you use it?
  4. (1 point) Are you familiar with advanced Wiki markup? Things like {{:#if:||}} commands and such? If so, please explain the {{:#if:||}} command.
  5. (3 points) Of the following theoretical pages, which would you move, which would you delete, and which would you improve?
    1. Liberty Park (7 bytes)
    2. ZACK MARTIN (182 bytes)
    3. omg i love Zack (2,817 bytes)
  6. (1 point) Do you know what a double redirect is, and why it's a problem? If so, how is it fixed?
  7. (1 point) Are you familiar with browsing and using page histories? If yes, how much so?
  8. (3 points) Can you name the 3 header templates that are used to describe what an article is missing? (Unreleased, Construction, and Stub do NOT count.) Also, give an example of the usage for one of them.
  9. (2 points) Correct this statement to follow the punctuation and formatting guidelines set out, and link where appropriate.
    • The 12th episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody is called It's a Mad, Mad, Mad Hotel and it aired on Jul. 17th, '05.
  10. (1 point) In the event that this Wiki becomes more active, are you familiar with how to use Talk pages? (Not user talk; article talk pages.)
Total: 18 points

There is no time limit for this test. Good luck!

Soxxeh [TALK] 06:55, February 20, 2011 (UTC)

Here are the correct answers:

  1. (2/2) The rollback tool is used to revert a single user's edits to the last good version of the page. It is a one-click-fix and can be used from the page's history, recent changes, or a show changes page.
  2. (0/1) Unless made yourself, it MUST be licensed as appropriate; there is a list of licensing that can be used, and most images fall under screenshot. The license should be placed in the summary of the image uploaded.
  3. (3/3) It is used to track the last 50 or more edits made to any part of the Wiki, including user talk pages, articles, and others. It shows how many bytes changed, the reason for the change, and who did it.
  4. (0/1) Yes, the {{:#if:||}} command is used to display one set of text if the condition is true, and another set if it is false.
  5. (2/3) Pages:
    1. I would move "ZACK MARTIN" to "Zack Martin"
    2. I would delete "omg i love Zack"
    3. I would improve "Liberty Park"
  6. (0/1) Yes; it is a problem because it stops the user between pages and they must confirm that they are linked to the correct page. It can be fixed by redirecting the first page directly to the desired article.
  7. (1/1) Yes. They are used to show the sizes, authors, and reasons for each revision and allow contributors to see each revision as it was.
  8. (3/3) Expand, Cleanup, and Images. {{expand|an infobox}}
  9. (1/2) Corrected:
  10. (1/1) Yes; they are used to allow users to talk about page content to suggest new additions, changes, or resolve conflicts between edits; the talk page is not for talk about the subject itself.

You scored: 13/18 points (72%)

You have passed the test! However, there are some things you certainly need to know before you can begin:

  • Show titles, such as The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, are italicized, not quoted. Additionally, there should be an ampersand in there. (This will be detailed in the Manual of Style that I am working on.) Also, we do not use acronyms such as TSLOZAC on official articles in order to maintain a level of professionalism.
  • If you are not already, you MUST be present on the Recent Changes page. This is instrumental to your job as a rollback editor.
  • You MUST understand the Wiki rules (which I will be posting tomorrow morning in a full article in the help section, and provide you a link). That way, you know when to use warnings, when you are in the wrong, and so on.
  • It is essential that you preview and check edits before you post them. I review all edits made anyway, but this will save time and help other contributors as well.
  • You must know that content cannot be removed from talk pages (unless it is a duplicate message, or similar). No matter how vulgar or obscene, all content seen on talk pages must remain.
  • Any conversation with users (or edit summaries) must be mature and conversational; under no circumstances will insults or speaking down be tolerated.
  • If you abuse your position or the rules of the Wiki, you will receive a single official warning. A second offense will have your status revoked permanently.

Your status will take effect tonight.

Considering that there are about 10 active contributors here, one admin is plenty, sorry. Thanks, though. Soxxeh [TALK] 18:52, February 21, 2011 (UTC)

Yes. And one is enough. Soxxeh [TALK] 19:37, February 21, 2011 (UTC)

Means you're a member of the Wiki's staff. Soxxeh [TALK] 20:03, February 21, 2011 (UTC)

Anyone with a rank higher than "user" is considered Wiki Staff. Soxxeh [TALK] 20:09, February 21, 2011 (UTC)

Anonymous vandal

His edit was hardly vandalist and isn't even requiring of a warning, much less a ban. Thanks though. Soxxeh [TALK] 19:11, February 22, 2011 (UTC)

Also... out of curiosity... why are you moving articles around then moving them back? Soxxeh [TALK] 19:15, February 22, 2011 (UTC)

Just create the second page with the text: #REDIRECT [[Name of first page]] (like #REDIRECT [[Kept Man]]) Soxxeh [TALK] 20:02, February 22, 2011 (UTC)

Not every article needs media, but in the case of promotional trailers (which will be removed once the episode airs in North America), it can be done like this. Soxxeh [TALK] 20:04, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

Of course you may, if you think it will benefit the Wiki. By the way, what is the purpose of the "Fix" template? Bad images can be shown with LQimg and other cleanup can be shown with the cleanup template. Soxxeh [TALK] 19:03, March 6, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah I'll see what I can do. I don't even use MyHome so it's not something I really notice. Also if I come across any of those links I'll remove them, of course. Soxxeh [TALK] 20:07, March 6, 2011 (UTC)
I think she's okay for now. I've been watching her, and definitely think she's not the friendliest user, but nothing worth scolding right now. Also, please do not just randomly edit user talk pages, as then they get a "new messages" warning. Content on talk pages should not be edited/removed anyhow. Soxxeh [TALK] 20:44, March 6, 2011 (UTC)

Wikia Labs

Should be fine. I am not as of yet familiar with them but I can change that pretty easily. Let me know when they're enabled. Soxxeh [TALK] 22:32, March 7, 2011 (UTC)

No, it isn't. Would you like a screenshot? That, and IMDb for the Arwin! show:

Brian Stepanek ... Arwin Hochauser (unknown episodes, 2007)
Soxxeh [TALK] 17:34, March 10, 2011 (UTC)
PS: Here is the link to Brian Stepanek's credits; if you scroll below TSLOZAC it's right there: [1]
And here is the screenshot: [2]
Soxxeh [TALK] 17:50, March 10, 2011 (UTC)

No, I understand. I've been neglecting other Wikis in favor of this one, somewhat, so I understand. Don't worry though, I'd contact you before I'd remove your status or otherwise. Good to know you're still around! Soxxeh [TALK] 20:07, May 28, 2011 (UTC)

Unfortunately, no. And since Mr. Red already has, I think two is plenty here, particularly since the series is over. Soxxeh [TALK] 20:10, May 28, 2011 (UTC)

Welcome Back

Hey Mr. Grille,

I'm glad to see you are back. A lot has happened here while you were gone as you can probably see. I changed my username from CodyandBailey to Mr. Red. I'm just glad to see we have another constant editor back on this wiki. Mr. Red Talk 15:05, May 29, 2011 (UTC)

Don't worry about that. You are obviously a great editor and we could use people like you contributing here.

Mr. Red Talk 15:16, May 29, 2011 (UTC)

Well, you are back now! That is all that really matters. Just keep on working and you WILL get there!

We have several contributors that come for a couple of days and then just seem to disappear. It is really quite strange.

I will send this to Soxra but from what I checked out, they are not a very viable threat. We will see though. Mr. Red Talk 15:37, May 29, 2011 (UTC)

Other Wiki

I really don't see them being a problem. Their top articles are a fanon Season 4 lineup ridden with typos and unlikely stories. It's more likely it's just a fan community either trying to encourage a fourth season or pretend there is one. Also, TiptonWiki merged here a long time ago... their domain redirects to us now. Soxxeh [TALK] 18:04, May 29, 2011 (UTC)

You might want to read this. It is the Manual of Style :)

Mr. Red Talk 14:16, May 30, 2011 (UTC)

I don't understand. How is it incorrect. The Manual of Style is used as the policy for grammar around here. What is wrong about it?
